American Polymer Standards Corporation is an independent contract laboratory specializing in molecular weight distribution analysis by various determination methods. Methods used are Gel Permeation Chromatography/Size Exclusion Chromatography (GPC/SEC); Multi-Angle Laser Light Scattering (MALLS) and Vapor Pressure Osmometry (VPO). We have extensive experience analyzing such materials as Nylon, Polyethylene Terephthalate, Polyurethane, Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Copolymers, etc...

APSC works closely with customers that require method development or that wish to have us perform analysis using the customers own method.

APSC offers a wide variety of organic and aqueous polymer standards. Polymer standards listed on this site are ideally suited for calibrating instruments and determining molecular weights of polymer samples by applications such as GPC/SEC, MALLS, VPO, etc. These polymer standards are only offered for research and investigational purposes and are not intended for Food, Drug, Cosmetic or Household use.

AM GPC Gel Columns are available in the solvent of your choice and are offered for a fraction of the price of other column producers. AM GPC Gel Columns are made of highly cross-linked ST-DVB copolymer for use with most organic solvents (e.g. DMF, NMP, DMSO, HFIP, THF, TCB etc...).

APSC offers the service of regenerating your old columns for a fraction of the cost of replacing them. In most cases we can have your columns regenerated and shipped back within 7 business days. Every regenerated column meets or exceeds new column specifications. All columns are shipped in the solvent of your choice.

Multi - Angle Laser Light Scattering (MALLS)

Determining the weight average molecular weight (Mw)of organic and water soluble polymers by MALLS is done by injecting the solution into a chromatography system with a MALLS instrument and a refractometer. The intensity of the scattered light is proportional to the molecular weight. The weight average can be calculated using a known dn.dc value, a specific refractive index increment of the solute-solvent mixture and a known concentration.

AM GPC Gel Columns

For your convenience and to eliminate the costly and time consuming solvent changovers, columns are shipped in the solvent of your choice. Columns are provided in three particle sizes (5, 10 and 15 microns) and can be bought in pore sizes of 100Å, 500Å, 103Å, 104Å, 105Å, 106Å and Linear (mixed bed). Each column is individually tested for efficiency and resolution and is unconditionally guaranteed for 120 days. Please specify the particle size desired (5, 10 or 15 micron) and the solvent you wish the column to be shipped in.
